PlayStation 3: Home-ward Bound
Sony and Capcom chat up the future of the upcoming program while we recap the past.
November 26, 2008 - Five weeks -- for most of the world, that sounds like a lot of time. It's more than a month. It's ten Saturdays and Sundays. It's five Thursday night episodes of The Office. However, in PlayStation land, five weeks has a different connotation. Here, it means that Sony has 35 days to get PlayStation Home to the masses or default on its promise to get the social application out by the end of 2008.
"Yeah, we feel strong about [making that release window]," said Sony Computer Entertainment America Director of Hardware Marketing John Koller in an IGN interview yesterday. "It has been promised for a while, and I know a lot of consumers are waiting on edge and many of 'em are in the closed beta now, but it's going to be very well worth it."
With five weeks left to go before the world unleashes its thousands of user-created avatars, we felt it was time to gather everything known about Home and the answers to some of your burning questions into one brain-busting feature. Here, you'll find the history of the product along with brand new interviews and insight from Sony about its baby as well as Capcom about what it's planning to unleash for its fans.
If this release is as close as Sony says it is, consider this Homebase.
