Monday, while typically being renowned as the worst day of the week, is often times the most glorious day of the week for me as I get the pleasure of telling you all which games are coming out on Wednesday.
Today is an extra joyful occasion for me as Tempest, one of the games that really defined me as a gamer, is finally making its debut on Xbox LIVE Arcade. Adding to the joy is that this is really the first "true" port of the game (though you can play with enhanced graphics). Tempest had me pumping quarters into arcade machines in the early 80s with reckless abandon. It actually got to the point where I wrote a letter to Atari in 1983 begging them to release Tempest on the Atari 2600, and giving them a 5th grader's best game design tips complete with drawings. Seriously, true story. And people wonder why I work in the game business...
Also coming out this week is Sensible World of Soccer, which has universally been hailed as one of the greatest soccer games of all time and was named one of the 10 most important games of all time by Stanford Professor Henry Lowood.
